There was a group of railway men at Mount Maunganui who felt that they wanted to play trains rather than work trains. These men got together and each week contributed some of their income to a fund which was the basis of the Tauranga Model Engineering Club.

Tauranga Model Marine & Engineering Club owns and operates the Miniature Railway for the public every Sunday, weather permitting.

  • Memorial Park, 53 Eleventh Avenue, Tauranga, behind QE2 Hall. Public car parking is available onsite
  • Sunday -10am till 3pm (Weather permitting)
    Lunch Break -12:30pm till 1:00pm
    The Ticket Office closes 10 minutes before the last train departs.
  • $3 per ride.
    Children under 2 years of age FREE.
    Concession cards - 12 rides for $25.

Note – as from the 1st August 2025 an increase in the price of tickets will see a single ride costing $3 and a twelve-ride concession card $25.
